FAQ – Garage Carpet

1What carpet do you install?
We only install premium carpet manufactured locally in Auckland by Autex, a New Zealand company established over 45 years ago.
2What is the carpet made from?
Autex carpet is made from 100% closed-cell polypropylene fibres that absorb no moisture and is therefore easy to maintain, won’t stain, rot or smell.
3Does the carpet come with a warranty?
Autex carpet comes with a serviceable lifetime anti-fray or zippering guarantee plus a 5 year comprehensive colour-fast and manufacturing warranty.
4What happens if the carpet gets wet?
As the carpet fibres do not absorb moisture, the carpet will dry out as the water naturally evaporates without leaving a nasty smell or rotting.
5How do you clean the carpet?
A quick vacuum is all that is required for standard cleaning maintenance. Tougher stains such as oil should be cleaned with warm household dish detergent and a soft brush. Do not use harsh chemicals as they can cause the backing of the carpet to deteriorate.
6Can you drive cars on the carpet?
Yes, our carpet is of the highest quality and is designed for cars. The carpet also comes with a lifetime guarantee against zippering.
7Will the carpet have joins?
Yes, the average two car garage will have just two joins. All of our joins are ‘double cut’ and glued, and will be virtually unnoticeable.
8What happens at the front door of the garage to protect the carpet?
All of our carpet installations are finished at the garage door with a premium heavy duty aluminium transitional strip that is drilled and screwed in place in the concrete. This ensures the front edge of the carpet does not lift up from cars driving in and out over time and provides a stylish finishing touch.
9How long does it take to install?
An average two car garage install will take approximately 3 to 4 hours to complete. You should however allow 24 hours for the glue to completely cure before driving your car on it.
10How long will it take to have it installed once I give the go ahead?
We can usually schedule installs within 5 to 7 days, sometimes sooner if it’s urgent.
